Anniversary Vacation pt 10 - Last 2 stops

We left Roswell the morning of the 15th and hit the road again. Our destination was Amarillo, TX for our last hotel stay. While there, we planned to see Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

I've heard of it from other photographers as a day-trip possibility for getting some nice shots. It's also affectionately called the Little Grand Canyon.

I love this wild turkey version of Abbey Road!

Fortunately, we arrived late enough in the afternoon to catch a little bit of the setting sun casting a warm glow over the reddish landscape.

While it's a pretty spot in the otherwise plain Texas Pandhandle, I'm glad we didn't make a special day trip from Tulsa to see it.

I'm always excited to spot some wildlife, even if it's just turkeys or a deer!

After a steak dinner at Salt Grass Steakhouse and a great night's rest in Amarillo, we made one last tourist stop to.....

CADILLAC RANCH

We passed this on the way to Albuquerque and said, "wait...is that...? Yes it is! We need to stop there on the way back!"

It was a bright, brisk morning.

People even spray paint the ground.

And the weeds.

This place is a hoot!

The paint is so thick on these cars, they would probably stand up on their own without being partially buried.

We found some cans with paint still in them, so of course, we had to contribute to this ever evolving work of art. But I won't tell you which one is ours :)

After Cadillac Ranch, it was back on the road, destination Tulsa. I think this was my favorite vacation ever and a great way to launch Married Life #46! My next (and last post re: this vacation) will be some random cell phone shots from the road.
