On the Wings of the Wind

It's a stormy evening in the midwest but it makes for beautiful clouds.

Psalm 104:1-5

I took some pictures and while downloading from the camera, thought of some verses in the Psalms that mention 'clouds'. Thus began a soothing combination of creativity and Bible reading.

Psalm 68:4

This was the result.

Psalm 147:8

Hope you enjoy.

Ruby Slippers 2011

There's no place like home; there's no place like home... If the "Wizard of Oz" was being filmed today, this might be what Dorothy would wear to get back to Kansas!

These little feet belong to a child attending a wedding rehearsal I did some pictures for recently. She was so cute & quite happy to show off her shoe bling.

April Showers...in May?

Phooey! I had been saving this picture to post in April but I forgot. Wow, here it is past the middle of May. Time is going at warp-speed. But, no matter. Every place seemsto be getting "April Showers" late this year. Actually, in some areas it started in April & never quit!

Simple Mondays

Simple days really are special.

Even just puttering around the house together, working on the yard or a home-improvement project.

Simple things. Sunshine. Blue sky. Good health. Love.

Thank You, Lord.

Seattle Seagulls

Thought I'd give you a break from flowers!

We took the ferry into Seattle. I love ferries! It's the closest I've come to a cruise so far :)The seagulls stalk the ferry because they know passengers will throw food out to them.

They're hovering skills are amazing. They can practically stop in mid-air waiting to catch a snack.
I was excited to snag these pix.Our Seattle adventure was a very fun day. I just wish we'd had more time. There's so much to see & do!
Hope to go back soon.

Hands 'n Flowers

My niece was reluctant to be my hand model for the "hands & flowers" part of my photo assignment. But her little chubby hands were so cute with their daisy-painted nails. Her cousin had jazzed them up for her to match the dress she was wearing for a very special occasion. I thought she'd be perfect & give me a little creative edge over my fellow classmates. After all, how many photos were going to have black & yellow with daisy accented fingernails in their pictures!? But it wasn't long before she started getting into it. And even coming up with ideas of her own.
I used the first picture to make a little graphic for the church screens & website. My niece's hands are now famous!

Seattle Grunge - Floral Style

Continuing my series of flower photos...these were taken in Seattle last month.Flowering trees were part of the landscaping of a waterfall sort of fountain in the city. This is looking down on one level, where petals had fallen in the pool. Alongside the waterfall, about a 100 steps took you from one street level up to another. As I stood at the bottom looking up, I could only hope I'd still be alive when I got to the top. This photo-op provided an excuse to stop & rest half-way up and save face amongst my younger bros & sister! Oh my gosh - the flowers at Pike Place Market! So abundant & inexpensive. If I lived there, I would have taken home bunches & bunches.
And in keeping with Seattle's fame as the birthplace of grunge (in a good way), here's a little urban flower photography.

May Flowers

Actually, they're April flowers. My photograpy class final assignment was to be about flowers and flowers & hands.

These 3 were taken in Washington. I took advantage of that state's wonderful floral abundance when I was there last month. More in the next post. The next 4 were taken in Tulsa's own beautiful Woodward Park. The last one is one of my favorites. I found a plastic jewel laying on the ground near this tulip. I thought it would be an interesting composition - fake gems & nature's own beauty.

Nature Finds a Way

This flower (a marigold?) sprung up in the crevice between the driveway & house. I don't know where it came from - I've never planted this kind of flower!
